Join us online for Drawing 101, a comprehensive 6-week series designed to introduce you to the essential elements of drawing. Whether you’re new to art or looking to refine your skills, this virtual event is crafted to help you understand and master the foundational techniques that will elevate your art practice.

Syllabus

Day 1 – Reintroducing the Line: Kick off your artistic journey by exploring the power of line! In this session, you’ll learn how various lines—whether bold or subtle—form the very foundation of drawing, setting the stage for all that follows.

Day 2 – Space and Shape: Dive into composition as you explore how space and shape work together to create balance in your art. You’ll learn techniques for organizing your work, making your drawings both structured and dynamic.

Day 3 – Value and Shading: Learn how to create dimension and mood in your drawings using value and shading. This session will show you how to create different tones to transform simple sketches into expressive works of art.

Day 4 – Form, Volume and Scale: Build on your skills by understanding form—turning flat shapes into objects with volume and playing with sizes in your compositions. This lesson focuses on contour, structure, scale –  helping you capture the three-dimensional essence of your subjects.

Day 5 – Perspective: Step into the world of perspective to create the illusion of depth. Learn key principles that will enable you to accurately depict space, making your drawings come to life with a realistic touch.

Day 6 – Final Project: In our final session, you’ll apply all the skills you’ve learned—line, space, shading, form, and perspective—to create a complete artwork. This is your chance to shine and see your progress come together in one inspiring project.
